
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Government of Nepal and SAIEVAC, SAARC Apex Body was signed amidst a programme at the Sangri-La Hotel on May 14, 2013, to establish the Regional Secretariat in Nepal in the presence of Ministry’s Secretary Dinesh Hari Adhikari .
Ministry’s Joint Secretary Upendra Prasad Adhikari and SAIEVAC regional secretariat Director General Dr Rinchen Chhopel signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
The establishment of the regional secretariat in Nepal would help the organization to meet its mission in supporting and implementing the programmes and projects that deal with the core themes and objectives of promoting and protecting the rights of children, in general, and ending violence against children in particular in the SAARC region, ending violence against children in the SAARC Member States.
Ibrahim Zuhuree, Director Maldives, SAARC Secretariat; Sanna Kaki, Representative SRSG Office; Ron Pouwels, Ex-SACG Chair, UNICEF ROSA; Madhav Pradhan, CSO Governing Board Member to SAIEVAC; Tarak Dhital, Chair, NACG-Nepal; and Laxmi Tripathi, SAIEVAC National Coordinator from Nepal Government of Nepal; and other SACG members, representatives from Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare and SAIEVAC Secretariat were present during the Signing Ceremony.
