26-27th Children’s Consultation:
SAIEVAC Regional Children’s Consultation was held from 26th– 27th May, 2012 at Hotel Taj Samudra in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The participants comprised of 2 child participants and a chaperone from each Member State. The meeting was facilitated by the children themselves with technical guidance from Child Participation Taskforce.
During the consultation, the children shared their views, hopes and expectations on how to end violence against children. It was consistently agreed by the participants that violence against children is very much prevalent in our region which is a degrading human rights violation. The meeting presented the recommendations of the outcome to the larger Technical Consultation and the Governing Board.
The event was organized by SAIEVAC Secretariat and was hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka with the support of the South Asia Coordinating Group on Action Against Violence Against Children (SACG) and in collaboration with the office of the SRSG on VAC.
