The 3rd SAIEVAC Governing Board Meeting was hosted by SAIEVAC Secretariat under the aegis of the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs, Government of Sri Lanka on 31st May 2012 at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo.
Eight Governing Board Members from South Asian Countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) participated in the Governing Board Meeting. They were accompanied by 2 Child Representatives to the Governing Board and 2 additional Child Observers, Chair of the SACG and CSO Board Members. The Director General of the SAIEVAC Secretariat tabled the agenda of the meeting on behalf of the Secretariat.
The Governing Board while formally endorsing the agendas and the outcomes of the preceding Children’s and Technical consultations, also unanimously endorsed the South Asia Call for Action on Ending Violence against Children.
Concurrent to the 3rd Governing Board Meeting, a National Planning Exercise on initiating national action plans on Corporal Punishment was held in the adjoining hall.
The event was organized by SAIEVAC Secretariat and was hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka with the support of the South Asia Coordinating Group on Action Against Violence Against Children (SACG) and in collaboration with the office of the SRSG on VAC.
